About Us

Why?

Billshare is free and will always be free. When I started billshare I was living with 3 other roommates and dividing and keeping track of who owed who what was a huge pain. So I wrote a small version of billshare just for the people I was living with. They seemed to like it, and it made all of our lives a lot easier, so I decided to develop it on a much larger scale. Unfortunately, running a website is expensive. I've decided to use google adsense to help cover the costs of running the site. I don't like having the ads, but without them this site wouldn't be possible.

Who?

billshare is founded, planned, designed, programmed, produced, marketed, and run by Trevor Berg. In the future as we grow more popular I will (hopefully) be adding more staff members to keep the app up to date and to add new features. If you'd like to volunteer to help me out in anyway on the app please use the contact page to drop me a note. Right now I'm specifically looking for a designer to help tweak the site's design to make it a bit cleaner and more user friendly.

What?

billshare is built using ruby on rails and a mysql database. I created this app using TextMate and locomotive for programming and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for design. Right now we are being hosted with dreamhost for development, but as billshare grows we will be expanding to our own dedicated servers in a hosting location. We strive to be standard compliant and if you find something that isn't right please use the contact us link below to let us know.

When?

The original billshare launched in september of 2005, but it had nowhere near the features that billshare has today. The official launch date for billshare is August 1st, 2007, however we will be launching a beta version of the site a few weeks before that date to help us fix what few bugs that are left. So check back later and we may have some new features to show off at our launch.
